Imagine a seed that is planted 6 inches deep in the soil. When that seed sprouts, it goes towards the light and pushes against the dirt. That resistance created by that push makes the stem strong enough so it can bare fruit. A seed that sprouts without that resistance will never bare any fruit.
That simple image makes the struggles we go through significant; for the fruit we want is healing.
Now look at the struggle created by your illness or disability; that resistance prepares you to bare fruit in your life. You can either focus on the light, which motivates your growth or you can focus on your thoughts and judgments which tends to limit you.
I chose to focus on the light simply by being true to the Wisdom of my Body. Inner wisdom always chooses to go for the light, for it will always grow.
When you're tuned in to the Wisdom of your Body, you're free of disturbing thoughts and fears. You're in a sheltering place where your body can fully respond to your medications without being limited by the thoughts of your mind. There's a peace at the core of your being...a peace that lets you know anything is possible.
Modern western medicine has come a long way over hundreds of years, but the Wisdom of your Body has evolved over millions of years. In a very real way, we now have an ideal opportunity to make use of both modern medical breakthroughs and the ancient Wisdom of the Body together to participate in healing.
No matter what type of health situation you may be facing, the silence that lies beyond your thinking mind is an amazing resource, just waiting for you to acknowledge it, explore it, and tap into it. That process is what I call "a healthy way to be sick."
Never forget: Your current health struggle also represents your greatest opportunity to tap into your own incredible inner strength, and when you do, your light will begin to shine through the darkness much more brightly…like a full moon on a dark night.
