Listening to the Wisdom of your Body

When a person deals with a trauma like a disability, they can develop a relationship to their body and their inner resources most people ignore. SCI can force you to a depth where instead of following your old habits, you tap what I call the Wisdom of your Body.

This wisdom exists beyond your thinking mind. We ignore it because we constantly focus on thinking. When you face the trauma of having a disability it is natural to focus on thinking, but your greatest resource exist beyond those sometimes anxious  thoughts.

When we rely on the wisdom of the body, we learn to accept the beauty of life. Our disability may limit us as we adapt to society, but that same situation has the power to force us into a wonderful self-acceptance.

In our everyday life we may not have experienced this depth, but when we deal with upsetting thoughts; we are forced to search for solutions that are beyond our normal ways of thinking. It may be hard to see that as a gift; but that can free you from mind’s limitations and serve you to create a better quality of life.

In sports athletes experience the zone when their actions are done while they focus beyond their thinking mind. Being disabled can happen in the zone when your focus transcends your thinking mind also. Just think if you dealt with this disability from the zone state of mind; you would be at your best to meet every challenge.

You can deal with this trauma from your past conditioning, but what you need is to connect to the Wisdom of your Body and deal with this from a zone state of mind. Your old habits will not serve you because they will lead you to think like you did in the past. You now have to meet this challenge connected to a conscious moment, utilizing powerful inner resources without limitations created by your mind.

From that state of mind you create an inner healing environment where you become an active partner with your doctor. When inner & outer resources work together; healing happens the best.

When you can not completely control what is happening to you; it becomes a time to learn and grow from your experiences. Your situation right now is defined by the thoughts you focus on, develop a focus where you listen to your inner wisdom and turn a negative challenge into an opportunity to grow.

  • Ultimate Healing; Mind/body
When you look at an ultimate healing; you have to consider the mind of the patient as you focus on healing the body. If you heal the body without healing the mind there really isn’t a complete healing. In this article we look at how thinking habits can easily be changed so the way illness is interpreted supports the healing process. What we think in our mind has immediate effects on the experience of the body. Our interpretations have the ability to increase the stress we feel and stress has an influence on our immune system and how we respond to medical treatments. We have the power to control our interpretations and if that helps our medical treatments only 10%; it is a good idea to look at that part of our life seriously. The creations of our mind aren’t how we can cure our illnesses; but if the way we use our mind limits us in any way we have to correct that to heal at our full potential. We have the power to create new thinking habits so we interpret reality differently. If the way we think can influence our health only 10%, that increase is nothing to ignore. 10% of a million dollars is significant and a 10% in healing is significant also.
