When ever we encounter a tragedy, it is so easy to focus on what goes wrong and ignore the benefits that tragedy offers. I have a chronic illness for over 27 years and I am tired of focusing on my problems; this blog explores the spiritual benefits I have been offered. In a similar way a soldier fights for their life in a war and has incredible spiritual experiences along the way, my war is multiple sclerosis and I have some incredible war stories to share. Of course war is a negative experience, so it takes effort to focus on the brighter side.
The first benefit a crisis offers can best be compared to Weber’s Law in physics. Basically it says a light shines brighter in darkness. My illness definitely creates a dark context to my life in every aspect except one; spiritual experience. In that darkness the light of a spiritual experience shines bright and is easier integrated into one’s life.
One of the power people have is to direct one’s focus. What we focus on literally grows; similar to a gardener watering the plants he wants to grow. Awareness is like the water giving life to what it focuses on. Our awareness does the same and in a dark context it is easy to focus on spiritual experiences.
Your focus gives life to what you focus on, and I think of that as awareness transfers consciousness. Our consciousness is our life force, so if we want to give our life to something or someone; you have to be aware of them. To give your life to a Higher Power; being aware of that Presence in your life is essential. Having that light shine bright in darkness is the best way to be aware of that light.
Are you aware of that light in your life with that intensity? I think it can be easy to do. Tell me what you think.
How to benefit from the darkest times will be a Blog on http;//lifeskillsapproach.com as I convey the benefits of a terrible disease. Go there for a free e-book and other areas I focus on, but this will be the light that fills up my darkness, which is what I share at this time.
