The Blessing of having no choices in a Health Crisis

The freedom of choice is valued very much in our society, but in the lives of a person in a health challenge there isn’t always a choice. I have had MS for over 27 years and if I had a choice, I wouldn’t live the life I am forced to live.

Now I could look at that with a negative perspective and ignore the benefits my illness gave me, but if I did that my own mind would add significant stress to my life. Don’t get me wrong I would change many things if I could; but after years of trying I learned a valuable lesson…the beauty of surrender.

Surrender is not trying to change what is wrong; it simply is having your awareness land beyond your thoughts. Focusing there gives no power to your thoughts, but you connect to a greater power than your mind. That simple surrender turns a difficult challenge into a powerful spiritual experience and at the same time activates the Wisdom of your Body.

In that beyond thought reality, ego is not in control, the Wisdom of your Body is. Instead of living in a world of “doing things”, you live in a reality where your deepest wisdom “receives things” which accomplishes greater goals. This is the inner environment where healing happens the best. It is where you respond to life from a deeper wisdom than ego.

So what do you do when you don’t have choices? You stop putting your energy into your thoughts and take the rare opportunity to surrender to the reality beyond thinking. This may not be your choice, but you are incredibly fortunate when you learn how to surrender and just appreciate the depth you are forced into.

Then you approach your challenge refreshed and ready to deal with it connected to powerful inner resources.

People who have choices can not do that so easily, but when you are forced into a situation without any choice…take advantage of it. Just as your breath goes in and out, you can surrender beyond thinking and return to your challenge refreshed and empowered to deal with it.

At that depth you are more creative and free from your old habits. There are spiritual benefits where you experience a reality not limited by your mind and basically you are free to create the life you want to live in.

  • Ultimate Healing; Mind/body
When you look at an ultimate healing; you have to consider the mind of the patient as you focus on healing the body. If you heal the body without healing the mind there really isn’t a complete healing. In this article we look at how thinking habits can easily be changed so the way illness is interpreted supports the healing process. What we think in our mind has immediate effects on the experience of the body. Our interpretations have the ability to increase the stress we feel and stress has an influence on our immune system and how we respond to medical treatments. We have the power to control our interpretations and if that helps our medical treatments only 10%; it is a good idea to look at that part of our life seriously. The creations of our mind aren’t how we can cure our illnesses; but if the way we use our mind limits us in any way we have to correct that to heal at our full potential. We have the power to create new thinking habits so we interpret reality differently. If the way we think can influence our health only 10%, that increase is nothing to ignore. 10% of a million dollars is significant and a 10% in healing is significant also.
