The hardest part of accepting a disability is found in who does the accepting. When we focus our attention on thinking, which almost everyone does, we naturally trigger the “you” that is limited to our thinking mind. This is not your best tool to deal with a disability; you need the Wisdom of your Body. This is deep within you, but beyond the habits we usually live in. Develop these habits and you will find a quality of life that is incredible.
When you have a disability you can not ignore this part of you.

Society doesn’t prepare us to be sick, so we may never learn how to effectively heal. We learn skills that prepare us for what we will do in society, but to tap the Wisdom of our Body to heal is often left to the day where we get sick.

When the doctor and the patient have the same goal, it is easy to see they have to become partners in healing. That partnership has the ability to combine the resources of the medical community with powerful inner resources found in the Wisdom of the Body.
Doctors go to Medical school to learn their role, but the patient learns how to become active in healing through their family and usually very indirectly.
The patient’s role allows them to receive the treatments & use them with the Wisdom of the Body. Otherwise their mind has the ability to limit the treatments effectiveness.

In the midst of High Tech medical care, patient participation becomes very important. As technology advances to more subtle levels; the quality experience needed to support healing has to be found within the patient.
That used to be called bedside manners and was an important part of a doctor’s care.
Now instead of only looking outside for help, a patient has to look within and participate using their powerful inner resources. The technology has definitely advanced and so has the demand for patient participation.
